  BETTIS, IRVIN H., (?"Spy") (Buried: Plot 3: Evergreen Cemetery, Orange, Texas), Born: 1833. Deceased: 1908. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America in June of 1862, and served "Honorably" as a "Private" in "Special Service Marines", C.S.A. He was at His time of enlistment a resident of St. Louis, Missouri. He was discharged from said service by parole from Federal Prison in May of 1865. He spend most of His service to the Confederate States behind Federal lines! (Information obtained from "Southern Cross of Honor" application…His writing).

Wife: Anna E. Bettis, (Buried: Plot 3: Evergreen Cemetery, Orange, Texas), Born: 1836. Died 1912.
